Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live the life they choose. Training provided, and experience is welcome but not essential.

Being a Direct Support Professional is one of those jobs where you can see the difference you make. You will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities with everyday life: getting ready in the morning, cooking, getting to work or a day program, staying in touch with family, and doing the things they enjoy.

It is practical work and it matters. Some days are routine and some are not. What stays constant is that you are supporting somebody in their own home and their own life, and that comes with real responsibility and real trust.

You do not need previous experience in care. We provide full training. What we cannot train is patience, reliability and genuine respect for people. Bring those and we will teach you the rest.

What you will do

  • Support people with personal care, at the level each person wants
  • Help with cooking, shopping, cleaning and daily routines
  • Support with medication in line with each person’s plan
  • Get people to work, appointments, day programs and social plans
  • Encourage skills, independence and community connections
  • Keep clear, accurate daily records
  • Work with families, service coordinators and the wider team

What we are looking for

  • At least 18 years old with a high-school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
  • Able to pass a background check as required for this work
  • Patient, reliable and genuinely respectful of the people you support
  • Able to communicate clearly in writing and in person
  • Comfortable with the physical parts of the role, including transfers and assistance

What we offer

  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Paid training, with no prior experience required
  • Flexible shifts, including part-time and weekend options
  • Paid time off for eligible employees
  • Ongoing development and a route into senior roles
  • A supportive team that answers the phone when you need them
