Who we serve
We work with individuals, families and the professionals who support them across Central Texas.
Home and Community-based Services support adults with an intellectual disability or a related condition to live in the community rather than in an institution. That covers a very wide range of people, with very different lives and very different amounts of support.
Some of the people we support live in a shared home with staff available around the clock. Some live with a host family. Some live independently and need a few hours of help a week. What they have in common is that the support exists to make their own choices possible, not to replace them.
We are honest about who we are not the right fit for. If someone needs skilled nursing care, psychiatric treatment or a secure setting, we will say so and help point you toward the right kind of provider. Taking on support we cannot deliver well helps nobody.
Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
People who want to live in their own community with the right amount of support, no more and no less than they actually want.
Families and guardians
Families who need a provider that communicates clearly, keeps its promises, and treats their relative as a person with a life rather than a case with needs.
Service coordinators and LIDDAs
Professionals who need honest capacity information, quick responses and a provider that does what it said it would do.
Community partners
Employers, day programs, faith communities and local organizations that help make community living real.
Eligibility for the HCS program is determined by the State of Texas and your Local Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority (LIDDA). We are glad to help you understand the process.
